A hotel floor plate is a set of nearly identical rooms served by nearly identical branches off a corridor trunk, stacked over and over. Once the unit detail is coordinated and approved, the fabrication is a production run rather than a series of one-off pieces. That is efficient, and it is also unforgiving: a dimensional error in the approved detail replicates through every unit before anyone catches it in the field.
The practical implication is that the coordination work at the front of the job is worth more here than almost anywhere else. JMC's engineering coordinates the typical unit and typical corridor detail in Revit against the customer's federated model, gets it right, and then the repeats fabricate from the approved detail.
Shafts are the other repeating element. Riser duct stacks floor to floor, and getting the shaft detail and the floor-to-floor transition right early removes a category of field problem that is expensive to fix once drywall is up.
Four elements, in roughly descending volume:
- Corridor trunk: Rectangular or flat-oval running the length of each floor, sized for the static the design carries and shaped for the plenum height available.
- Unit and guest room branches: The repeating element. Small branches, takeoffs, and transitions produced as coordinated sets from an approved typical detail.
- Shaft risers: Vertical duct stacking floor to floor, including exhaust risers, with the floor-to-floor transitions detailed as part of the set.
- Amenity and back of house: Kitchens, laundry, pool and spa areas, fitness space, and parking ventilation, which each carry different requirements than the guest room stack.

Hotels and multifamily buildings frequently open in phases, with lower floors turning over to the operator while upper floors are still in construction. That turns delivery into a sequencing exercise rather than a single drop. Loads ship floor by floor in install order, tagged to the floor and stack they belong to.
On renovation work in an operating hotel, the constraint tightens further. Work happens floor by floor or wing by wing while guests occupy the rest of the building, with short access windows and no room to stage material in public space.
